Kovalam Beach with its iconic lighthouse after a thunderstorm.
The evening sky is cloudy and another storm is already brewing in the horizon.
This watercolor illustration is based on a 1995 photograph. You may find the once pristine and secluded beach where fishermen hauled their catch and repaired their nets in stark contrast to today’s Kovalam, a picture of clutter, disarray and unchecked growth.
|Pacific ocean waves crash the rocky beach by the Pigeon Point lighthouse in California by the Cabrillo Highway. |
It's California's most picturesque lighthouse and the tallest one on the Pacific Coast.
This acrylic painting was lost in an apartment fire at Islip, NY in 1998.
Image is from a Kodachrome slide I made before the painting was sold.
After the Rain
Acrylic painting that mimics the look and feel of watercolor
can be achieved on canvas easily.
This painting is the result of diluted acrylic paint left to paint on its own.
No brushes. No pencil sketches. No pre-planned ideas...
just controlled flow of paint.
That's all it needed to make this painting. And a lot of patience.
I needed it because the paint takes time to dry on canvas!
Try it yourself. You'll be surprised how wonderful the outcome could be.
